At WBTT, we don’t just teach theater—we build futures. Our education programs nurture young artists of color through intensive training, mentorship, and real performance opportunities that transform potential into professional-level talent.

From our acclaimed Stage of Discovery summer intensive to school residencies that bring Black history to life, we’re creating the next generation of artists who will carry these essential stories forward with pride, skill, and unshakeable confidence.

Nurturing the Next Generation

We believe every young person deserves a platform to shine—our programs build confidence, develop artistic skills, and create pathways for the next generation of theater artists to tell their stories with power and pride.

Stage of Discovery Summer Program

WBTT’s Stage of Discovery summer musical theatre intensive program coaches participants aged 11-18 in acting, singing, dancing, improvisation, and writing.

Jazzlinks Program

Jazzlinks is a classroom-based, integrated arts experience that illustrates the role of African Americans in U.S. history through music and theatrical presentations.

Young Artist Program

The Young Artist Program provides talented performers who have acted in a WBTT show an opportunity to showcase their talents on our MainStage in their own production.

New Playwright Series

We’re not just producing plays; we’re launching careers and amplifying new voices that need to be heard, giving emerging playwrights the platform and support to bring their stories from page to stage.

Community Classes

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe offers a variety of classes, including African Dance, Improv, and Acting classes, to the public.

WBTT Voices

Fresh perspectives deserve center stage — this series showcases emerging Black artists and creators who are redefining what theater can be, bringing bold new stories that spark conversation and inspire change.
