Michelle Harvey^ is an associate professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Missouri State University and freelance scenic and projection designer for theatrical and entertainment events. She is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, a union and professional association for designers, artists, and craftspeople in the entertainment and decorative arts industries. She holds a BA degree in theatre from The Ohio State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in scenic design from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
Michelle has designed professionally for The Aspen Music Festival (scenic design: Cosi fan tutte, the directorial debut of Reneé Fleming, and Le Nozze di Figaro), the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (projection design: Once on This Island), MSU’s Tent Theatre (projection and scenic design: The 39 Steps, Xanadu, Grease), Dallas Children’s Theater (projection and scenic design: The Happy Elf among others), Uptown Players, Stage West, Theatre Three, The Turtle Creek Chorale, The Spectacular Senior Follies, as well as guest artist designs with Florida State University and James Madison University. Elsewhere, she has designed in Arizona, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. She has been a member and held various leadership positions with the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) since 2001
