Ivy Sunflower is an actress, director, and teaching artist, making her Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe debut in Lies, Spells, and Old Wives’ Tales. Her regional theatre credits include Cadillac Crew (The Studio@ 620), School Girls or the African Mean Girls Play (American Stage), Ama Egg Oyá (Powerstories Theatre), and White Rabbit Red Rabbit (American Stage). Ivy is inspired by work that blends emotional truth with the magic found in everyday lives.
On screen, Ivy appears in The Recipe (Diverse Visions Productions), earning the Audience Choice Award at the Black Art and Film Festival, and in The Decision (Diverse Visions Productions), for which she received the festival’s Best Actress Award. Both films are part of The Dark Ward anthology, streaming on RokuTV and The Reewind Network. Additional film work includes What Tha Hell (TubiTV), I Need I Want (Amazon Prime and TubiTV), and Baked with a Kiss (Amazon Prime).
As a director, recent work includes The Tragic Ecstasy of Girlhood (Powerstories Theatre’s Voices of Women Theatre Festival) and Runnin 4 Mayor (Womatic Entertainment). As a teaching artist, Ivy has led youth and community‑centered programs throughout Tampa Bay. Her artistic journey with WBTT began in the classroom, teaching improv to emerging performers. She teaches because she believes stories are living things that grow stronger when shared.
Returning to WBTT for this production is a meaningful full circle, and she is honored to help bring a tale woven with magic, memory, and ancestral truth to the stage.
