Brian L. Boyd was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and now resides in Atlanta, GA. He is a Jamaican-American artist who graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance. This season, Brian has performed in his Independent Artist Showcase, “ENIGMA,” and served as Assistant Director for WBTT productions of Paradise Blue & Purlie.
His WBTT appearances include Five Guys Named Moe, Fences, Soul Crooners: Solid Gold Edition, A Soldier’s Play, Dreamgirls, Guys and Dolls, Eubie!, Caroline, or Change, The Amen Corner, Marvin Gaye: Prince of Soul, Raisin, The Mountaintop, A Motown Christmas, In The Heights, Broadway In Black, Dearly Departed, Black Nativity, and How I Got Over: A Tribute to Mahalia Jackson. Other regional credits include Jersey Boys (Florida Studio Theatre, FL), Ragtime (Midtown Arts Center, CO.), Dreamgirls (Lone Tree Arts Center, CO.), Smokey Joe’s Cafe (The Legacy Theatre, GA), and Motones vs. Jerseys (Washington, D.C.).
Brian was voted BroadwayWorld’s Vocalist of the Decade for Sarasota in 2020; he presented his WBTT Young Artist Program in 2019 entitled “A Rhapsody Revelation”; and performed with the troupe at the International Black Theatre Festival in Winston-Salem, N.C. in 2017. Brian has also been a part of WBTT’s Jazzlinks program from 2017 to 2022 and the 2024-2025 season. Brian’s film credits include Bridge To The Other Side (Amazon Prime) and Spare Me. Brian is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of M.A.D. Music Acting Dance Inc., with fellow artist Brentney J. A few M.A.D. productions include: “Dancer’s Delight: A Christmas Musical”, “M.A.D.
